This has become an increasingly important subject for everyone
and the Government have and will continue to bring in more and
more legislation concerning the disposal of waste. Once again through
Government pioneering their own directives we are in the vanguard
concerning this complex area.
Firstly, we use the best form of recycling - we redistribute the collected goods
by donating and selling at discounted prices as much furniture and equipment
that has commercial or practical value as we can, therefore minimising the amount
of material to be disposed of. Nearly all of the remainder is recycled. We avoid
using land-fill sites. Everything is categorised and then sent by us or a licensed
waste transfer station to the relevant recycling centre, metal to scrap yard,
the wood and paper to a recycler, and WEEE equipment to an Authorised Treatment
Facility (AFT).
We are UK Environment Agency listed and are registered as a carrier of controlled
and hazardous waste. We have a Waste Transfer Licence and issue Waste Transfer
Certificates for whatever site or customer we collect from. We also act as a
third party for organisations for the disposal of their WEEE as we have an exemption
from the Environment Agency to handle WEEE waste. On completion of each assignment
an audit trail of all items sold or disposed of is created. The time has come
for companies to account for all their waste; we have always provided this service
at no extra charge.
Our clients can also be assured that we are doing everything we
can to minimise any impact our work has on the environment. We
are in the process of introducing our environmental management
programme with a view of applying for the ISO 14001 qualification
in the nearest future.
